Arthur “Art” Harry Lurndal, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. A Private Family Prayer Service will be held at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A Private Graveside Service will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Muscatine, Iowa.

Art was born on June 12, 1938, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Norma (Otteson) and Harry Lurndal. He grew up on the family dairy farm in Modena, Wisconsin, where he learned to love the land and helped his dad raise cattle, hogs, chickens, and crops. His childhood was filled with the love of family and the hard work that farming brings.

Art is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Barbara; he also leaves behind three children, Scott Lurndal of Gilroy, California, Shari (Joe) Kuchera of Robins, Iowa, and Jill Lurndal of Lone Tree, Iowa; two grandsons, Kevin Kuchera of Cedar Rapids, and Marine Cpl. Michael (Cpl. Becca) Kuchera of San Diego, California; three great-grandchildren, Xia, Zoey, and Tucker; sister, Marge Trautmann of Hastings, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. They will all miss him very much!

Art and his wife, Barbara “Barb” Hagen, were high school sweethearts. They married on December 12, 1959, and began their young married lives in River Falls, Wisconsin, where Art finished his college degree in agriculture in 1960. Art took a sales job with Swift and Co. They lived in St. Paul, Minnesota, Ladysmith, Wisconsin, Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. In late 1969, Art was hired as District Sales Manager for Teweles Seed Company, which resulted in another move to Eau Claire, Wisconsin. In 1974, Art transferred to Muscatine, Iowa, when Teweles was purchased by Kent Feeds, where he retired in 2002, as VP of Advertising, Promotions, and Public Relations. Art enjoyed his role in leading promotional trips for dealers and employees to beautiful locations across the globe.

In 1997, Art and Barbara purchased property in their beloved birth state of Wisconsin on a bluff, overlooking the Mississippi River. Here they constructed three century-old homes into one vacation log home, where they enjoyed many years together. Art loved spending time in his workshop in the log home as well as his workshop in Muscatine. Of the many woodworking treasures his children have to remind them of their father, are three grandfather clocks that he built from a walnut tree that was harvested on their Muscatine property. His two grandsons each have a chest crafted for them by their grandpa.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Norma Lurndal; a brother, Robert Lurndal; a sister, Elizabeth Rustad; and three brothers-in-law.
