Armstrong, Marion H.
Marion H. Armstrong, 92, of Summit Pointe in Marion, died there Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Burial, with military rites: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine; five nephews, Gene, Gary, Steve and Scott Armstrong and Rick Poe; and four nieces, Pat Bailey, Gertrude Bader, Sandy McDonald and Susie Hurms.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Morris, Chuck and Paul; and one sister, Faye.
Marion was born May 14, 1919, in Belle Plaine, the son of Lee and Gertrude (Bohr) Armstrong. He married Elaine A. Leaf on Oct. 10, 1943, in Springville. Marion worked at Collins and retired from there after more than 42 years of service in 1981.
He was a member of Echo Hill Presbyterian Church, the American Legion as well as being a Shriner and proudly serving in the Navy during World War II.
Marion enjoyed fishing, playing golf, feeding the squirrels and birds and tending his flowers.
Marion was a kind and wonderful person who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established.
