Armstrong, Kenneth C. Sr.
Kenneth C. Armstrong Sr., 86, died Feb. 24, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Pastor Laurie Riley will officiate at the service. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Norwich Cemetery in rural Martelle. Thoughts, memories, and condolences may be left at .
Surviving are his children, Sharon (Don) Fleming of Anamosa, Kenny Jr. (DeDe) Armstrong of Anamosa, and Pam (Boomer) Denniston of Anamosa; eight grandchildren, Lauri, Michelle, Galen, Leslie, Mitchel, Michael, Kevin, and Kristina; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vi; great-grandson, Timothy Dale Schoon; two sisters, Iren Ferguson and Ellen Nelson; and four brothers, Clyde, Harry, Lee, and Carlton.
Kenneth was born April 30, 1926, in Mount Vernon, Iowa. He was the son of Charles and Alma Everhart Armstrong. Kenneth served in the United States Navy during World War II. On Feb. 12, 1949, Kenneth and Violet Mae Skadsem were united in marriage in Thief River Falls, Minn. Kenneth worked as a mechanic for Bob Zimmerman Ford for more than 33 years. He was a past member of the Anamosa American Legion. Kenneth enjoyed running the K and V Lunch Wagon for Auctions, along with many other functions. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
