Armella Dana, 68, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017. Friends may greet the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 28, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. A Celebration of Life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at First Presbyterian Church, Marion, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Howard Chapman and the Rev. Elizabeth Hilkerbaum.
Armella is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dr. Roger Dana of Marion; daughter, Jennifer (Will) Landry of Boones Mill, Va.; son, Joseph (Holly) Dana of Henrietta, Texas; grandchildren, Matthew Landry and Abigail Landrey, both of Boones Mill, and Ilithyia Dana of Henrietta; brother, Aaron (Peggy) Thums of Oshkosh, Wis.; and sister, Anita (Wayne) Crary of Clarksville, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Armella was born Nov. 27, 1948, in Neenah, Wis., the daughter of Alvin and Audrey (Eckstein) Thums. She graduated from Neenah High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. On Aug. 19, 1972, in Nennah, Armella was united in marriage to Roger Dana.
Armella was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Marion. She was an eclectic artist who put her soul into all of her art, including painting, etching, music, cooking and creating handmade teddy bears for collectors around the world. Armella's art reflected her love of life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church in Armella's memory.
