Arlys LuAnn Feaker-Rathje, 92, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on June 17, 2023, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, Cedar Rapids. Celebration of Life services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Arlys was born Nov. 20, 1930, in Kamrar, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Lulu (Arends) VanLangen. She attended Kamrar Schools. She led her Girl's High School Basketball team to the Iowa State Championship in 1948 and was inducted into the Iowa Girl's Basketball Hall of Fame. She was best known for her hook shot. She enjoyed sports of all kinds and was especially loyal to the Iowa Hawkeyes. Arlys always had a positive attitude and full of life and laughter. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was united in marriage to Glenn Rathje, the love of her life, on Oct. 23,1989, on the beach in Naples, Fla. They enjoyed many years of boating together on the Mississippi River.
Arlys is survived by her children, Randy (Denise) Feaker, Danny Feaker, Tim Feaker and Annette (Jay) Rollinger; her grandchildren, Jamille (Kristen Solberg) Feaker, Kimberlee Feaker (Tyler Maas), Autumn (Brian) Schwartze, Megan (Chris) Haganman, Tammy Conn, TJ Feaker, Madison and Kaitlin Rollinger; many great- and great-great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Craig (Kay) Rathje, Dan Rathje and Kristie Sauer; two sisters, Sherry (Eddy) Tyler and Sandra Mollison; brother-in-law, Larry Brewer; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Rathje; her parents; her sister, Aletha Brewer; daughter-in-law, Mary Feaker; and her beloved dog Mya.
