Arlo G. Benesh, 86, of Marion, Iowa, died Wednesday Dec. 19, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital under the care of hospice.
Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Arlo was born Oct. 13, 1932, the son of George and Sophie (Krumm) Benesh. He was married to Velma Swanson on April 7, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and to this union three children. Arlo attended the Excelsior one room school of Marion and then graduated from Marion High School in 1950.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Springville American Legion Post 331. Arlo farmed near Marion until he retired and then still remained very active in the farm.
Survivors include his children, Valeria Henning (fiance Casey Culver), Al (Diane) Benesh and Vanessa (Brent) Bane; seven grandchildren, Thomas Henning, Joseph Henning, Cody Benesh, Ryan Benesh, Travis Benesh, Dylan Bane and Corrina Bane. As well as a sister, Madeline (Keith) Rowley of Orlando, Fla.
He was proceeded in death by wife, Velma; parents; and sisters, Bernice Rawson and Sadie (Sue) Suma.
