Arleta Irene Lininger, age 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023, at Compass Memorial Hospital in Marengo, with her family by her side.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, at the Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone, with Rev. Dean Duncan officiating. Interment will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Luzerne. Visitation will be held from 9:00 until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Arleta was born on April 11, 1936, in Littleton, IA, the daughter of Wilhelm and Neva Lillian (Weitnauer) Kaufmann. She was baptized on May 17, 1936 at Zion American Lutheran Church in Oelwein, and was confirmed on June 5, 1949 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Aurora, IA. She graduated from Aurora High School.
Arleta married William D. Bartosh on June 30, 1957, in Hawkeye, and the couple later divorced. She married Donald Lininger on Feb. 29, 1992, at First Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Don preceded her in death in 2011.
Arleta was a woman of strong faith and enjoyed her membership at First Lutheran in Belle Plaine. In her leisure, she enjoyed gardening and baking.
She is survived by her children, Victoria (Dan) Dietrich of Marengo, Joseph Bartosh of Keystone; 3 grandchildren, Mindy (Brad) Evans of Brooklyn, IA, Nicole (Brian) Spensley of Lexington, SC, Ross (Sabrina) Kriegel of Marengo; 6 great-grandchildren, Morgan Evans, Andrew, and Jonathan Spensley, Carter, Catherine, and Caroline Kriegel; and her sister Marjorie Huebner of Mountain Home Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 grandsons, Lloyd, and Walter Kriegel; and her sister Delia Caldwell.
