Arlene Pandora Lang, 64, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion, Iowa, where an additional one-hour visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Springville Cemetery in Springville, Iowa.
Arlene was born on November 5, 1959, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Kurt and Juliane (Huhn) Steinert. On September 20, 1990, Arlene was united in marriage to Daryl Dean Lang in Marion. Arlene worked a variety of businesses and was a talented artist, especially painting. She became a homemaker and cared for her children. Arlene was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. She enjoyed gardening, stained glass, woodworking, taxidermy, and fishing. Arlene enjoyed giving her time to various organizations and was awarded the Iowa Governor’s Volunteer Award and was an honorable mention at the 2023 Chalk the Walk event in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Arlene is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 34 years, Daryl Lang; five children, Jeffery (Nielie) Schaeffer of Marion, Erin Schaeffer of Cedar Rapids, Emily Lang of Salt Lake City, Utah, Samantha (Zachary) Lang of Marion, and Matthew Lang of Marion; three grandchildren, Kadie, Madison, and Lucas; and two sisters, Audrey Steinert of Cedar Rapids, and Amy (Marty) Williamson of Mulberry, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Adam Steinert; and infant brother, Andrew Steinert.
