South Amana
Arlene S. Ehrmann, 96, of South Amana, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at her home. Funeral service:
10 a.m., Tuesday June 22, at the Main Amana Church, Main Amana, with Elder Elly Hoehnle officiating. Burial will be at the South Amana Cemetery, South Amana. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 21, at the Main Amana Church, Main Amana. Memorials may be contributed to the Amana Church, Amana. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Arlene is survived by her daughter, Joyce (Jerry) Tarvin of South Amana; her grandchildren, Daniel, Rick and Tara; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold (Rose) Wendler of Dixon, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; a son, Dwight; a grandson, Mike; a great-grandson, Shawn; and a brother, Raymond.
Arlene Susanna Wendler was born Dec. 31, 1924, in South Amana, Iowa, the daughter of Fred A. and Wilamine Berger Wendler. She graduated from Amana High School and went on to Business College. Arlene was united in marriage to Walter "Pete" Ehrmann in 1943 in South Amana, Iowa. She worked for Colony Market Place and several different businesses in the Amana Colonies. Arlene enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, and reading, never missing her morning devotions. She was a member of the Amana Church and attended the German church services. Arlene was especially fond of Joyce's kitties, she enjoyed sharing her home with them. The Amanas were near and dear to Arlene, and she was always willing to help in the community in any way she could.
