Ardith E. Bliss, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, at Oak Crest Village in Parkville, Md. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Qualben will officiate. A visitation will be held Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 3 to 6 p.m.
Survivors include her daughters, Ann E. Bliss of Salem, Ore., and Amy Bliss (Adrian) Tenney of Baltimore, Md.; her siblings, Gene (Ernestine) Felton of Longview, Wash., Audree (Dick) Gordon of New Brighton, Minn., Emmett (Yvonne) Felton of Mount Sinai, N.Y., and Linda Christensen of Bondurant, Iowa; and her foster granddaughter, Zefer Tesfamariyam of Toledo, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Bliss; her infant son, Steven; her parents; and her brothers, Ronald, Donald, James, Vernon, Carroll and John.
Ardith Felton was born Sept. 30, 1937, in Correctionville, Iowa, the daughter of Pat and Grace Lumerne Felton. She married David Harold Bliss on Sept. 1, 1962, in Lincoln, Neb.
Ardith graduated from East High School in Sioux City in 1956, attended Grace Bible Institute, Omaha, Neb., and the University of Nebraska. She received her bachelor's degree from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids.
Ardith valued her family and friends, her Christian faith and education. She enjoyed Christian missions, education advocacy, music and art.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Marion, Iowa, or World Relief, Baltimore, Md.
