Ardice Arlene Blankenhorn, 100, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at The Halcyon House in Washington.
Celebration of Life services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 27, at the Jones & Eden Funeral Home, with Pastor Jason Collier officiating. The family will be present to receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established to the United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be sent for Ardice’s family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.
Mrs. Blankenhorn was born on Aug. 23, 1921, in Pine Bluffs, Wyo., to Herbert and Rena (March) Clark. She married Donald Blankenhorn on August 4th, 1939, in Palmyra, Mo. Mr. Blankenhorn died May 28, 2010.
Ardice and Don farmed north of Crawfordsville until they retired from farming in 1979. She also worked part time at the McCleery Cumming Calendar Factory for many years. Ardice was a 50-year member of Eastern Star and a member of the United Methodist Church. She was a Hawkeyes basketball fan and liked playing cards, puzzles and "The Wheel of Fortune." She enjoyed spending time with her family,
Survivors are two daughters, Donna Vick and Jackie Messer, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchild; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Douglas Blankenhorn, on June 13, 1979; son-in-law, Adison Vick; grandson, Steven Vick; five sisters; and one brother.
