Arda Mae (Cox) Caldwell, born June 1, 1925, passed away peacefully on Oct. 4, 2018, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
A lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, Arda graduated from McKinley High School and Coe College, before becoming a stewardess with United Airlines. She married Donald Caldwell on Sept. 9, 1948.
Arda Mae was active in the El Kahir Shrine Ladies Auxiliary, Shrine Widows Club, St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, as well as a longtime volunteer at Mercy Hospital.
The daughter of George and Jessie (Kammer) Cox, she is survived by her son, Roger Caldwell and wife Paula of Freeland, Wash.; grandson, Justin and his wife, Amy, and their nine children, Ryan, Tyler, Travis, Austin, Tenneh, Fantah, Gabriel, Beau and Errol; and grandson, Eric and his significant other, Morgan, and four children, Christian, Olivia, Harrison and Esme, all of Cedar Rapids; and a wealth of friends and acquaintances.
She will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Barry, Robert and Douglas; her husband, Donald; and a brother, Marlin (Gail) Cox.
Other than a small family gathering, there will be no services. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
