Antonio Planells (1937-2024) passed away in Rio Rancho, NM, September 7, 2024. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the only child of Antonio Planells Bonet and Carmen Irene Bravo. He married Lila V. de Jubecourt in 1983 and she preceded Antonio in death. He is survived by his two sons, Antonio Juan and Gabriel Alexander; one daughter, Vivienne, from a previous marriage; also his niece Myriam Gilles de Pelichy. He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Antonio obtained his doctorate degree from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. in 1976. He taught in several universities in the United States, Canada and Spain. He retired as an Emeritus Professor from the University of Northern Iowa.
He was also a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
He will be cremated and his ashes will be placed at the Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls, IA, next to his wife, Lila, and his stepson, Tanneguy Emmanuel.
