ANTHONY "TONY" ROBERT OLSON Norway Anthony "Tony" Robert Olson, 41, of Norway, died Thursday, June 7, 2018, at his home following a sudden illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Norway with Father Brian Dellaert as celebrant. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the chapel at St. Michael's with a 7 p.m. Scripture service. Private family interment services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Phillips Funeral Home, Vinton, is in charge of arrangements. Tony was born March 2, 1977, at St. Francis Hospital in Waterloo. He graduated from Benton Community Schools in 1995 and attended the University of Northern Iowa, where he graduated in 1999 with a degree in business management. He worked for Great American Financial for nearly 20 years. He loved fishing, watching cartoons, especially "Ren and Stimpy" and "SpongeBob SquarePants," and concocting "interesting" recipes. He was an avid fan of the UNI Panthers, MOPAR, the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Royals. Tony also was known for giving the people close to him nicknames. He is survived by his two daughters, Makayla Ann and Makenna Grace Olson; and their mother, Tiffany Olson, all of Atkins; his mother, Michelle (Jeff) Matheny of Van Horne; his siblings, Tamie Matheny (Paul Erger) and Matt (Stephanie) Matheny, all of Van Horne; his nephews and nieces, Tate Kettler, Ashlyn and Caden Erger and Nate and Gabe Matheny; and his paternal grandparents, Jim and JoAnn Olson of Waterloo.
