Anthony George Roman, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, July 31, 2017, at Living Center West following a long illness. Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Teahen Funeral Home. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home by Deacon Robert Huryck. Burial: St. John Cemetery.
Anthony is survived by his son, Tim (Jessica) Roman of North Liberty; grandchildren, Lauren Roman and Rochelle Kane of Fairbank; daughter-in-law, Sandy Roman of St. Charles, Mo.; siblings, Louis Roman, George Roman and Helen Blietz, all of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Roman; sisters, Ann Milota and Agnes Thomas; and brothers, Frank Roman and Joe Roman
Anthony was born April 19, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Frank and Marie Prochaska Roman. He attended St. Wenceslaus School until 10th grade, completing his education at Kirkwood. He served in the Army from 1954 to 1956. In 1960, Anthony married Beverly Gaylord in Galena, Ill. They were later divorced. He worked at the LeFebure Corporation for 25 years, retiring in 1992. Anthony was a member of UAW Local No. 1506, of the Cadets of St. George Branch No. 45 and St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
