Anthony "Tony" Giannini, 70, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at home in Manchester from complications of esophageal cancer.
Surviving are his wife, Janet (Williams) Giannini; their children, Kate (Richard) Mejia and Matthew (Amy) Giannini; brother, Joe Giannini; sisters, Marnie Kounkel and Ann Giannini; uncle, Don Minnick; grandchildren, Sam and Jack Mejia and Avery, Joseph and Nicolas Giannini; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Dianne and Bob Matthew and Dan and Janet Williams; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Shirley Giannini; in-laws, Harold and Elizabeth Williams; and nephew, Brian Matthew.
Tony was born Jan. 6, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1965, joined the Air Force and fought in the Vietnam War. After returning from Vietnam, he attended Northwest Missouri State, where he met and married Janet (Williams) on Aug. 26, 1972. In 1982, the family moved to Iowa, where he taught special education for 20 years.
Throughout his life, Tony enjoyed music, especially Frank Sinatra, cooking, fishing, crossword puzzles, beer and spending time with friends and family.

The family would like to thank doctors and staff at the VA hospital, especially Dr. Iliff, Hall-Perrine and hospice in Manchester.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at St. Mary's Church, Manchester. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, in the memorial room at the church.
