Anthony Edward McMillan, 61, of Iowa City, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, at home with his wife at his side.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City.
He was born Nov. 29, 1959, in Sigourney, Iowa, to Kenneth McMillan and Sandra (Northup) Mossman. Anthony grew up in Williamsburg and later earned an A.A. degree in electronics from Kirkwood.
He married Sharon Schipull in June 1985. Sharon preceded him in death May 2007. They had one son, Nicholas Carl McMillan. Anthony later met and married Bonita "Bonnie" Thomas.
He worked as a chief engineer for Staybridge Hotel in Coralville. Anthony enjoyed bicycling including participating in RAGBRAI, model railroading and creating unique solutions to electrical challenges.
He is survived by his wife, Bonita "Bonnie" McMillan; his son, Nicholas "Nick" McMillan (Taylor) of Peoria, Ill.; his mother and stepfather, Sandra Mossman (Lawrence) of Blairstown; sister, Angela Durkee (fiance John Marich) of Mount Auburn, Iowa; brothers, Matthew McMillan of North Carolina, Tim McMillan (Connie) of Parnell and Mitchell "Mitch" McMillan (Dawn) of Williamsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; his first wife, Sharon; a sister, Cynthia Heims; and his beloved Grandma, Hildreth "Topsy" Quire.
His family wishes to thank the staff at UIHC Family Medicine, Dr. Weckmann, Dr. Groen and Iowa City Hospice for their care and compassion.
