Annette Olsen, 75 of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025, at her home following her battle with cancer.
Annette was born March 25, 1950 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Caroline (Cote) Mummert. She graduated from Heelan High School in 1968 and made lifelong friends from there. She was united in marriage to John Bray with whom they had a daughter, Alice. They later divorced. She then married the love of her life, Mark Olsen. Together they raised their children and after almost 5 years of marriage they had their daughter, LeAnn Olsen. They just celebrated 45 years.
Annette loved going back to her hometown of Sioux City and visiting with lifelong friends from Heelan. Annette retired from Mid-American Energy.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 45 years, Mark Olsen; children, Alice Snyder, LeAnn (Terry Jernberg) Olsen, Nathan (Lindsay) Olsen, Tara (Billy) George; 6 grandchildren; brother, Earl Mummert; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lenore; brother, Leo.
A funeral mass is 10 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025, at St. Jude Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, with Father Nick March officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service, at the church. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
