Anne Louise (Taylor) Schmidt, 73, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary in Cedar Rapids.
Anne was born on Aug. 6, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of John Martin and Madonna (Zubrod) Taylor. She was a 1967 graduate of Regis High School and went on to work for Collins Radio for five years, then Moss Enterprise for 25 years. On Aug. 24, 1968, Anne was united in marriage to Ray Schmidt at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, while wearing a Chantilly lace bridal gown. She fought Type 1 diabetes for 61 years and was a breast cancer survivor. Anne enjoyed butterflies, bunnies, crafting and sewing. She loved spending time with her family. Anne will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Anne is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, Ray of Marion; two daughters, Lisa Hapner of Marion and Lora (Chris) Oldfather of Central City, Iowa; six grandchildren, William Hofmeister, Alex Hofmeister, Tristan (Lakeysha) Hofmeister, Sara Moore, Logan Oldfather and Makenna Oldfather; great-granddaughter, Selena Hofmeister; two great-grandsons, Elijah and Finnigan Hofmeister; and brothers, John (Karlene) Taylor of Cedar Rapids and Joe (Daveeta) Taylor of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Mary J. Hogan.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Medical Center and Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for the exceptional kindness and care for Anne and her family.
