ANNE C. BRENEMAN

Anne C. Breneman, 76, of Riverside, passed away Dec. 18, 2018, at UIHC.
A visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Lensing's Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Rd., Coralville. Honoring her wishes, cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or American Stroke Foundation.
Anne was born July 3, 1942, near Verdun, France. She worked for the U.S. Army after school before moving to Germany in 1963, where she met Don Breneman. He was discharged from the Army, returning to the U.S. in 1969 after dating Anne for nearly five years. Anne traveled to the U.S. shortly after, which is when Don received an unexpected call from the woman he would later marry. While working at the UIHC, Don worked as a teacher assistant, and they married during their lunch break in 1969. The couple spent an amazing 56 years together.
She became an American citizen in 1971.
Anne's trademark was her outgoing personality and love of family. She had many close friends, some for more than 50 years, and would talk to them weekly. She also kept in close contact with her family in France.
She was a wonderful woman who will be missed by many.
Anne is survived by her husband; sister-in-law, Linda Leistad of North Liberty; nieces, Ingrid and Lilian; and numerous cousins and nephews in France.
