Anna Sauer, 96, of Olin, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin at 7 p.m. A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. before the service. Burial will be in Olin cemetery at a later date.
Anna was born Jan. 29, 1921, in Wyoming, Iowa, to Thomas and Kjestine (Lausen) Jensen. She graduated from Onslow High School in 1939 as class valedictorian. She married Marion "Pete" Sauer on Feb. 14, 1940. They moved to Olin in February 1947. Even at the age of 96, she lived independently on her own. She worked at Collins Radio Co. for 25 years.
Anna was a member of the Olin American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards and to embroider. She dearly loved her grandkids.
Those left to cherish her memories are three children, Randy (Kathy) Sauer of Olin, Kenny Sauer of Mount Vernon and Tanner (Karla) Sauer of Olin, 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Bradley; two daughters, DeeAnn Shors and Dixie Morgan Abt; and four brothers, Jens, Bruno, Tom and Fred.
