Anna C. Recker, 89, of Manchester, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at the Regional Medical Center in
Manchester following a short illness. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at St. Mary
Catholic Church in Manchester. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Dyersville. Arrangements are being made through Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Manchester.
Anna was born April 5, 1924, in Luxemburg, Iowa, the daughter of Alois and Susan (Meyers) Bries. She received her education at Holy Trinity School, Luxemburg. On Aug. 21, 1951, Anna was united in marriage to Joseph G. Recker at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Luxemburg. They farmed for a short time in the Luxemburg area. Joe died as a result of an accident.
Anna was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Mary Parish Providers (Blessed Trinity Cluster). She was a domestic for Father Robert J. Saunders for 53 years.
Anna is survived by one sister-in-law, Florentine Bries of Luxemburg; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Alois and Susan Bries; her husband, Joseph Recker; one sister, Verena Eichacker; and five brothers, Albin, Otto, Al, Linus and Leo Bries.
