Anna Mae Walton Komisar, 95, of Marion, Iowa passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025 following a short illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Chaplin David W. Wise officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services.
Anna Mae was born the daughter of Charles and Agnes (Drahos) Walton on April 13, 1929 in St. Helaire, Minnesota. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1948. She worked at Kresge Dime Store and then Kresge Dollar store and then Service Optical. Anna Mae also worked at Armstrong Department store in ladies’ alterations. Later Anna Mae worked at May City Lanes Bowling Alley where she met Anthony G. Komisar. They were later married on September 10, 1962. Anna Mae worked at Frank Magid in Marion for 18 years and retired in 2000. Anna Mae was a member of VFW chapter 788 of Cedar Rapids for a number of years. Anna Mae was always busy outside with her many flowers and gardens. She loved all of her cats, who she cared for deeply and who always loved her right back! Anna Mae enjoyed spending time with family and her five granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.
Anna Mae is survived by her three children: Son Anthony Komisar Jr. (Mary) of Marion, Iowa; and two granddaughters, Jennifer Holeman (Hunter) of Waukee, Iowa; great-granddaughters Louise and Edith, Jessica Pleggenkuhle (Ryan) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Daughter Kathleen Crist (Kevin) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and two granddaughters, MacKenzie James (Cameron) of Norwalk, Iowa and Madeline Crist of San Diego, California. Daughter Lisa Komisar of Tampa, Florida; and granddaughter Brianna Shell. She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony G. Komisar, father Charles Walton, stepfather Edward Weis, mother Agnes Weis and sisters; Marcella Bruns and Jean Elliott, and a brother.
