Anna Elizabeth Caspers, 75, of Lisbon, died Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Mechanicsville Specialty Care. Celebration of Life service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 4, at Lisbon United Methodist Church, by Pastor Tom Mattson. Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church. Inurnment: Lisbon Cemetery. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon.
Survivors include her husband, Duane; children, Bruce (Mandy) Caspers of Mustang, Okla., and Troy (Kay) Caspers, Andy (Julie) Caspers and Heather (Butch) Myers, all of Lisbon; sister, Joan (Virgil) Henry of Ridgeway; sisters-in-law, Jolene Friederich and Ruth Friederich; grandchildren, Casey (Sara) Caspers, Sadie (Josh) Jones, Zach Caspers, Christopher (Jenny) Caspers, Hunter Caspers, Bailey Caspers, Alexandra (Ethan) Kamerling, Adeline Caspers, Patrick (Anna) Myers and Hannah Myers; and 10 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.
Anna was born Nov. 4, 1940, in Elgin, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Florence (Baumgartner) Friederich, in the same house where her mother was born. She attended Cherry Valley Country School through the sixth grade and then Elgin Public Schools through the 11th grade.
She was a member of the first class to graduate from the new consolidated Valley (Clermont-Elgin) School in 1958.
On April 19, 1959, she married Duane Caspers in Elgin. Anna worked in food service for 25 years, including Solon Nursing Home, Gary's Foods and Rockwell Collins. She was active in the Lisbon community, serving as a den mother, secretary of the Lisbon Boosters and various roles with the Lisbon United Methodist Church.
Anna will be remembered for her many baked goods, canning and pickling, and her antique balloon machine. She and Duane enjoyed going to engine shows for many years and also checking out garage sales.
Her family will remember her loving and caring ways, especially her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harold, Leo and Russ; sister, Ernestine Butikofer; sister-in-law, Geri Friederich; brother-in-law, Lewis Butikofer, and granddaughter, Bethany Caspers.
Memorials are suggested to the Lisbon United Methodist Church Stained Glass Window Restoration Fund.
