Ann was born Oct 27, 1936, in Iowa City, to the late Harley and Agnes (Brogaard) Smith. She was married to Ray Bissell in June 1973. He preceded her in death in June 2006. She was well known in the Cedar Rapids/Marion area as an answering service operator for nearly 40 years. She and her husband Ray also were avid bowlers.
Ann passed away Sept. 9, 2016, at NHC Scott Rehabilitation Center in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., after a lengthy battle with cancer. She moved to Tennessee to be with family after her diagnosis in November 2015.
She was preceded in death by her parents; younger brother, Ray M. Smith; and husband.
She is survived by sons, Vernon (Lee) Bissell of Waynesboro, Tenn., and Darrick Bissell of Reno, Nev.; and daughters, Joann (Steve) Barker of Arizona, Sharon (Bradford) Corkery of Coggon and Deb Anderson of Missouri.
There will be no service. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Cedar Memorial in Cedar Rapids.
