Ann Louise (Udelhofen) Oglesby, 59, of Cedar Rapids, went to be in the arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, after
a long battle with breast
cancer. Funeral Mass: 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Hiawatha. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom with a vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. Interment: Mount Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque, Iowa, at a later date.
Ann was born Jan. 23, 1958, the daughter of Gerald and Joan (Hemming) Udelhofen, in Clinton, Iowa. She graduated from Wahlert Catholic High School and the University of Northern Iowa. She earned her master's degree from the University of Iowa and National Board Teacher Certification. Ann worked as an elementary education teacher for the Marion school district for 38 years. She was a dedicated teacher and truly loved working with children. Ann married her high school sweetheart on June 7, 1980. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Ann enjoyed the outdoors; she loved camping, hiking, skiing, fishing, biking and campfires. She liked to bake and was an accomplished seamstress. Ann took joy in meeting with her friends for coffee and Bible study.
Survivors include her husband, Steve; two daughters, Jessica (Shawn) McCarthy of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Amanda (Trevor) Maddox of McPherson, Kan.; son, Daniel Oglesby of Minneapolis; five grandchildren; mother, Joan Udelhofen of Dubuque; three brothers, Steve (Myrna) Udelhofen, Dave (Ann) Udelhofen and Jim (Betsy) Udelhofen; and sister, Joanie (Chris) McDonough.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald "Jerry" Udelhofen.
Ann was beloved by all those who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
