Ann Ketelsen Lee, 86, died on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester, following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 11, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Monticello, where friends may call after 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello. Pastor David Raemisch will officiate at the service. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, has taken Ann and her family into their care.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Surviving are her husband, Joe Lee of Marshalltown, Iowa; four children, Gene Ketelsen of Wheatland, Iowa, Nancy (Alan) Merrill of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Ron Ketelsen of Sharon Springs, N.Y., and Mark (Stephanie) Ketelsen of Monticello, Iowa; a stepson, David (Julie) Lee of Woodbury, Minn.; and a stepdaughter, Dana (David) Hagstrom of Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-step-grandchildren.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Dick in 1978; her mother, Marguerite in 1982; her father, Andrew in 1984; and her oldest son, Rick in 1985.
Ann Louise Tobiassen was born on Sept. 8, 1932, the only child of Andrew and Marguarite (Postel) Tobiassen in Anamosa, Iowa.
Ann married Richard (Dick) Ketelsen on Dec. 5, 1952. The couple farmed in the Center Junction and Monmouth communities. In 1961, they moved to a home on Walnut Street in Monticello.
Ann worked as secretary for the superintendent of schools in Anamosa and also worked as secretary to the psychologist at the Anamosa Men's Reformatory. Ann later worked at Cuckler Building Systems in Monticello until they were sold, and finally retired from LeFebure in Cedar Rapids.
She married Joseph F. Lee on April 27, 1995. The couple built a new home in Marion, Iowa, where they lived until 2010, when they moved to Keystone Place in Cedar Rapids. Due to her declining health, Ann moved to the Good Neighbors Home in Manchester, Iowa, in July of 2017.
