ANITA WHITE
Cedar Rapids
Anita Mae White, 76,
of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at Evergreen Estates II. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at St. Jude Catholic Church by the Rev. Mark Reasoner. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Robert (Becky Raher-Peery) Peery and Susan White; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Anita was born July 25, 1939, the daughter of William and Mary Ellen (Dunleavy) Benter. She was married to Robert Peery Sr. He died in 1965. She then married Larry White, divorcing many years later. She will be remembered for her devotion to her faith and to her family. Anita worked hard to support her family over the years, but was especially dedicated to caring for her mother during her mother's last years. She also enjoyed bowling, cooking, fishing and was an avid reader.
Anita's humor and kindness will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She endured many hardships, tragedies and illnesses, yet she was eternally optimistic, faithful and selfless. Her belief in God sustained her.
She was preceded in death by parents; husband; and siblings, Bill, Bobby and Rose Marie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Last Hope Animal Rescue, 1823 16th Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404. Anita's pets were a source of constant companionship and unconditional love.
A special thank you is extended to the staff at Evergreen Estates II for their many years of outstanding care and compassion, as well as UnityPoint Hospice for providing peace and comfort in her final days.
Please share your support and memories with Anita's family on her tribute wall at www.stewartbaxter.com under obituaries.
