Anita Frazee
ANITA FRAZEE
Cedar Rapids
Anita Frazee passed away peacefully with family by her side on July 5, 2015, at the Evergreen Hospice in Kirkland, Wash.
She was the widow of James W. Frazee Sr. They shared 49 years of marriage together.
Anita was born Sept. 8, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and was the daughter of Raymond Oscar Morey and Edna Louise (Martell) Morey. After graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1949, Anita started a family and career as a legal secretary for an attorney in Cedar Rapids for many years until she became a real estate agent. Some of Anita's accomplishments included award-winning performances with her synchronized swimming group, the Aquarelles, and soon was inducted into the International Swimmers Hall of Fame as a swimmer and a coach. After moving to The Villages, Fla., she continued her passion, organizing synchronized swim teams in The Villages where she met many of her beloved friends. She stayed active with church and was a volunteer teacher assistant for one year in a kindergarten class near The Villages.
She is survived by six children, Jamie Frazee of Anamosa, Molly (Frazee) Shumway of Payson, Ariz., Christal (Cook) Stewart of Woodinville, Wash., Colleen (Cook) Sova of Marion, Jay Frazee of Kansas City, Mo., and Lisa (Frazee) Nichoalds of Seattle, Wash. She is also survived by her brother, Gale Morey of Omaha, Neb.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, James W. (Jim) Frazee.
Anita was a grandmother to 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family has many fond memories of the picnics and gatherings on the farm in Marion, which included volleyball, barbecue, fresh right out of the garden tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans and corn on the cob, along with homemade vanilla ice cream topped with fresh strawberries. Anita will be remembered as an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to those who knew her.
Services will be held Monday, July 27, at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Chapel, The Villages, Fla. Visitation will start at 9 a.m. followed by a celebration of her life at 10 a.m. There will be a burial service at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Disabled Veterans National Foundation.
