Angeline "Angie" M. Dvorak, 87, of Cedar Rapids, passed away in her home on Sunday, July 22, 2018. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church by Father Christopher Podhajsky. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, Cedar Rapids, where a rosary begins at 7 p.m.
Angeline was born Nov. 29, 1930, to Joseph J. and Lydia M. (Sonka) Trenda on the family farm near Veseli, Minn. Her elementary education was divided between a rural one-room country school and St. Wenceslaus Catholic School in New Prague, Minn., and she graduated as eighth-grade valedictorian. She attended New Prague High School until the spring of 1947, when the family moved to Cedar Rapids. Angie graduated from Cedar Rapids Wilson High School in 1948 and was a member of the Wilson Aristotelian National Honor Society.
After high school, Angie was employed by the law firm of Simmons, Perrine, Albright, Ellwood and Neff for two and a half years. She married George K. Dvorak on Jan. 23, 1951, at St. Wenceslaus Church. Angie belonged to the Cadets of St. George Branch W045 F.C.S.L.A. (formerly Catholic Workman) and Sanctuary Guild, and was actively involved on many projects with Saint Monica's Circle.
Angie is survived by her daughters, Carla (Ed) Neuhaus, Gwen Dvorak, June (Herman) Andalcio and Cindy (Steve Jones) Dvorak; grandchildren, Theresa (Michael) Volk, Eric Neuhaus, Kenneth Andalcio and David Andalcio; great-grandchild, Lyla Angeline Volk; brother, Regis (Donna) Trenda; five nephews; and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George K. Dvorak (1998); sons, Randy G. Dvorak (2017) and Les R. Dvorak (1996); and her parents.
Angie dearly loved taking care of her family and home and excelled in cooking, baking, canning and flower gardening. She was an exceptional listener and shared a wealth of solid, benevolent advice.
