Angela Bruce, 61, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following an extended illness. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 4 at Gospel Tabernacle Church, officiated by Elder Rufus Johnson.
Angela was born March 7, 1956, in Chicago, to Shelby Humbles Sr. and Lovora (Melchor) Humbles.
Angela had worked at General Mills and the Cedar Rapids Community School District. She was a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.
Angela is survived by her son, Gregory W. Brown; her siblings, Shelby Humbles Jr., Gail Humbles, Vernita Humbles, Kim Humbles and Tyrone Humbles; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Gregory Humbles and Claude Humbles (Dubby).
Angela enjoyed cooking and was known for her sweet potato pie, peach cobbler, macaroni and cheese and dressing.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established and can be sent to Gregory Brown at 1708 Texas Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
The family would like to thank the staff of Dennis and Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for their special care to Angela.
