Andy was born Oct. 23, 1916, to William and May (Pugh) Andrews, northeast of Troy Mills. He grad-uated from Troy Mills High School in 1936. Andy was united in marriage to Martha Mae Wagner on Dec. 29, 1938. He was employed as a painter for most of his career and later for the North-Linn school district as a janitor and maintenance person. Andy also was a member of the Troy Mills Christian Church.
Andy was very proud of his military service, including the time he served in combat during the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. He was a charter member and worked all of his life for the veterans and American Legion Post 712. Andy put up flags and crosses for Memorial Day and established the avenue of flags at the Troy Mills Cemetery.
He was instrumental in getting the sewer system established in Troy Mills and was a member of the Troy Mills Sanitary District. One of his proudest accomplishments was getting a fire depart-ment established in Troy Mills. Andy worked to the betterment of the town and its organizations most of his life. The family extends a special thank-you to the staff at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
