Anderson, Genevieve B.
Genevieve B. Anderson, 99, of Cedar Rapids, died Jan. 2, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. John Gossman will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where remembrances will be shared at 7 p.m. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are her children, Michael Anderson of St. Paul, Minn., Tom (Catherine) Anderson of Marion, Mary (Ron) Waller of Cedar Rapids and Mark (Kristin) Anderson of Marion; her grandchildren, Jeff (Wendy) Anderson, Kelly (Jon) Fuller, Andrea (Matt) Smith, Dane Anderson and Tess Anderson; and her great-grandchildren, Matt, Ashley, Jonathan, Emily, Ben, Lauryn, Nick, Jack, Lilly, Claire and Will.
She was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings and her husband, Loreld “Ray” Anderson.
Genevieve was born Dec. 18, 1912, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Theodore and Dolores Blask. She was united in marriage to Loreld “Ray” Anderson on May 21, 1938; he preceded her in death in 2001. She was employed for several years at Sears.
She was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she worked for several years in the gift shop. She enjoyed lake vacations, fishing, golf and watching Hawkeye sports. Above all, her greatest enjoyment was time spent with her family, the most important part of her life.
Memorial donations in Genevieve's honor may be made to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
