Anderson, Delores E.
Delores E. Anderson, 87, of Marion, died Saturday, July 13, 2013, at West Ridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Friday, July 19, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion, by the Rev. Dennis Johnson. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, and one hour before the service Friday at the church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her three daughters, Carol (Ed) Fletcher of Woodbury, Tenn., Patricia (Lew Schmitt) DeVore of Springville and Linda (Marty) Wilcox of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Kim Jacalone, Shanna Craven, Joshua Craven and Ty Wilcox; two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Chase; and three sisters, Phyllis (Bernard) Bergdale of Alcester, S.D., Erlis (Carroll) Nelson of Coleman, S.D. and Pauline (Eldon) Nelson of Sioux Falls, S.D.
he was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; son, Thomas; and daughter, Barbara.
Delores was born Aug. 27, 1925, in Gilmore City, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Violet (Olson) Christensen. She graduated from Dover Minnesota High School with the Class of 43. Delores married Roy Anderson on June 30, 1946, in Sioux Falls, S.D. Roy died Feb. 27, 2008. Delores worked as an area supervisor for Kmart. She was a charter member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion and was a long time member of the Marion YMCA where she enjoyed various water sports with her friends.
Delores was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established in Delores' memory.
