Anciaux, Audry 'Richard'
Audry “Richard” Anciaux, 63, of North English, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at his home surrounded by family. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Lensing's, with Pastors Vince Homan and
Kirk Statler officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Essence of Life Hospice.
Richard was born Dec. 7, 1946, in Iowa City, the son of Audry and Josephine (Zeithamel) Anciaux. He grew up in Iowa City and graduated from Iowa City High School in 1965. He helped his parents in their dry cleaning and laundry business, Unique Cleaners in Iowa City, and took it over when they retired. He operated the business for 20 years. Richard later worked at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics for 18 years.
He married Viola Middlekauff in June 2000 and they settled in North English to be near his daughter from a previous marriage and her three daughters. He loved animals and working outside. He enjoyed working with wood, fishing and mowing the yard.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Viola; daughter, Angela Davis (Mark) of Iowa City; three stepdaughters, Crystal Fetter of Tucson, Ariz., Linda Worrall (Harvey Gesling) of Millersburg and Connie McMillan (Tim) of Parnell; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Turecek (George) of Fort Myers, Fla.; many nieces and nephews; and his black Lab, Lacy.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
