Ann Marie Wood, 70, of Cedar Rapids died at Cottage Grove Place on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home by the Rev. Stacia Fine. Friends may
visit with the family after noon Thursday. All in attendance are required to wear a mask and respect social distancing guidelines.
Ann is survived by her son, Matthew of Waukee; mother, Phyllis (Larry) Purcell of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Mary (Mark) Fiala of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, John (Mary) Groh of Rockwell and Mike Groh of Tama; and several nieces and nephews.
Ann was born Dec. 17, 1950, in Mason City, the daughter of Harvey and Phyllis Lindquist Groh. She graduated from Mason High School in 1968 and with a B.A. in accounting from Mankato State University. She was a peer support specialist at the Abbe Center for many years.
Ann enjoyed playing and watching softball and tennis. She will be remembered as a very loving and caring person who dedicated her life to helping others and advocating for mental health services. She enjoyed playing games with her family at Abbe and planning the annual holiday party at Abbe. She always looked forward to a fun game of black jack.
