Amy Bridgeman
AMY LYNETTE (WEAVER) BRIDGEMAN
Chicago, Ill.
Amy Lynette (Weaver) Bridgeman, 35, was born Aug. 9, 1980. She passed into the arms of Jesus at midnight on Nov. 17, 2015. She struggled for 2½ months knowing she then had fourth-stage cancer. A couple weeks before she passed, the hospital tests came back with "rare mutation of melanoma."
She is survived by her husband, Bryan Bridgeman of Chicago; a daughter, Lydia Rose, 23 months; twin brother-in-law, Kent of Chicago; sister-in-law, Robin (Skip) Cutting of Murphysboro, Ill.; father-in-law, Rex Bridgeman of Cobden, Ill.; mother, Mary Jean Smith of Bertram; stepfather, Larry Smith of Bertram; her dad, Don (Jessica) Weaver of Chicago; and brother, Timothy Weaver of Seattle, Wash.
Amy's stepdad Larry works as senior lab tech at Schneider Electric in Cedar Rapids. Her brother, Tim, is a sportswriter in Seattle, featured on Cover 32 online, in addition to other writing pursuits.
Amy earned a bachelor of science degree in communication arts at North Park University in Chicago (2002) and a master's degree of counseling at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (2011).
At the memorial, we found she was very strong-willed, fighting even alone if no one went with her, for injustice in human trafficking and rights for homeless people. God used her boldness throughout her life, even in high school, bringing home girls rejected by parents due to pregnancy. We are so grateful that Amy gave her life to the Lord because we know now we will see her again in Heaven.
She is healed in Heaven, beautiful and not suffering any longer.
Gifts for babysitter and raising Lydia can be sent to Bryan Bridgeman, 1502 N. Ridgeway, Apt. 2, Chicago, IL 60651 or Lawrence and Mary Smith, 412 Angle St. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403.
