Ambrose H. Gibney, 92, of Norway, died Wednes-day, Sept. 3, 2014, at his home. Services: 10 a.m.
Monday, Sept. 8, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Norway, with the Rev. Craig Steimel officiating.
Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Parish Center. Burial: St. Michael's Cemetery.
Ambrose was born Jan. 3, 1922, near Watkins to James E. and Florence Smith Gibney. He graduated from Norway High School and attended Cedar Rapids Business College. Ambrose served his country honorably during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
Ambrose was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Watkins Bank board, Benton County ASCS committee, Lenox Insurance board, Benton County Veterans Commission, American Legion Post 234 and Catholic Order of Foresters.
He enjoyed farming, visiting with friends and was devoted to his faith and family.
Ambrose is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Alice; sons, Don (Sandra), Lynn (Kim) and Dave (Ann) Gibney; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Bob (Sara) Stark; and a sister-in-law, Germaine Gibney.
Preceding him in death were his parents; stepmother, Marie Gibney; brother, James; and stepsister, Edith Roslien.
Arrangements are with Brosh Funeral Service, Norway.
