Alyssa Ellen Peshek, 37, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017. Celebration of Life services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church, located at 2808 Schaeffer Dr. SW. There will be visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
Alyssa was born April 4, 1980, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Clarence and Wendy (Benesh) Walton. After high school, Alyssa attended Kirkwood Community College and the former Hamilton College. Throughout her all-to-short-life, Alyssa endured numerous health and mental issues, to which she succumbed. Her joyous laugh, million-dollar smile and independent, sassy attitude will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Alyssa is survived by her three children, Allison, Lizzy and Gavin; her parents; her sister, Heather (Robert) Lee; her brother, James (Katie) Walton; her best friend, Damon Derrick; nieces, Aubrey and Olivia Williamson; nephews, Carter and Bradley Walton; aunts and uncles, Judy McLaskey, Randy and Kris Benesh, and Robert and Vada Elliott; ex-husband, Joel Peshek; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, James and Mary Ellen Walton and Louis and Marjorie Benesh; and an uncle, Francis "Mac" McLaskey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
