Altenhofen, Rita 'Jeanie'

Rita “Jeanie” Altenhofen, 64, of Fairfax, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013, while visiting in Arizona. Services: 6 p.m. Monday, April 15, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where the family will greet friends from 3:30 p.m. until service time. Deacon Jim Berger will officiate.

Survivors include her husband, Johnnie; her children, Jerri (Joe) Whitters, Jody (Tami) Altenhofen and Jackie (Eric) LaGrange; 11 grandchildren, Hannah, Adam, Nick, Tayler and Rylee Whitters, Lynsey and Matthew Altenhofen, Cameron, Logan, Ty and Braedy LaGrange; her mother, Virginia Weber; and her siblings, Steve Weber, Glen Weber, Bonnie Sellers and Carol Liddle.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Weber.

Jeanie was born Aug. 22, 1948, in Washington, Iowa. On Dec. 28, 1966, she was united in marriage to Johnnie Altenhofen.

Jeanie enjoyed traveling in the RV and seeing the countryside, reading mystery novels, playing card games and she loved to cook. She cherished her children and grandchildren and had a great laugh.
