Alta Jean (Dye) Northrup, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family will hold a private service at the Spring Grove Cemetery near Troy Mills.
Alta is survived by her children, Doug, Kathy (Rick), Pat, Denny (Junda), Penny (Ray) and Kim (Ted); sister, Sister Jo Dye; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Dick" Northrup; parents, Everett and Serena Dye; brothers, Frank, Jack and George Dye; and sister, Elsie Harris.
Alta was born on Feb. 16, 1932, in Marion, Iowa. She met her husband, Richard "Dick" Northrup, at the roller skating rink. They were married on June 15, 1950.
She was an amazing woman who truly loved and dedicated her life to her husband and family. She loved spending time with her family, which spanned five generations. She also loved the outdoors.
She was beloved by all who knew her.
