Alma Louise Freeman, 95, of Center Point, Iowa, died Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Center Point Heights. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2024, at First Christian Church, Center Point, by the Rev. Kevin Jones. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, rural Toddville, Iowa.
Alma is survived by her two daughters, Patricia (Dale) Cress and Paula (Al) Freeman Brown, all of Center Point; grandchildren, Matthew (Tiffany) Cress, Jacob (Rebecca) Freeman, Eric (Amber) Cress, Megan (Jake) Gatrost, Paige Brown, Jeremy Brown and Joshua (Carmen) Brown; and great-grandchildren, Harper, Cade and Hudson Cress, Nina and Elena Freeman, Landyn, Grady, Peyton, and Kendall Cress, Braxton, Rinley, and Ellie Gatrost, Morgan Brown and Lennon Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Pauline Hepker; husband, Edward Clair Freeman; son, John Edward Freeman; brothers, Forest and Oliver; and sisters, Leona, Arlene and LeEtta.
Alma was born December 26, 1928, on the family farm in Linn County, Iowa, to Charles and Pauline Ellis Hepker. She married Edward Freeman on January 1, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Alma was a homemaker and partner with her husband farming. Alma was very active in her community. She was a member of the Greens Grove Community Church where she taught Sunday School and was the church secretary for 25 years. Later she became a member at First Christian Church, Center Point being active in the Fellowship Club at First Christian. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Greens Grove Sewing Circle, Federated Garden Club, 4-H Leader, Alert Book Club, Order of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron of the Center Point Chapter, served on the Linn County Extension Council and was a volunteer school reader.
Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church, Center Point or a charity of the donor’s choice.
