Allyn, James 'Jim' Robert

James “Jim” Robert Allyn, 73, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at his home in Bella Vista. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 5, at Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, with the Rev. Laura Fleetwood officiating.

He was born Oct. 18, 1936, in Fremont, Ohio, to Robert H. Allyn and Edna Smith Allyn. He was raised and educated in Minnesota and graduated from Drake University in Iowa. Jim married Donna Lee Duncan on June 25, 1960, in Des Moines, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960- 1961. He was employed by Owatonna Tool Co. for over 25 years and retired in 1996. He was an active member of the Masons and the Shrine. He achieved 28 years of sobriety in A.A.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna Lee Allyn of Bella Vista, Ark.; two sons, Barry James Allyn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Bradley Duncan Allyn (Carmen) of Shellsburg, Iowa; one sister, Faye Kottke (Bill) of Owatonna, Minn.; four grandchildren, Jordan, Josiah, Zachary and Sarah; and one great-grandchild, Ashton.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark.
