Allin Ammons was born June 4, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He died July 9 , 2024 in Spokane, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice B. Ammons, his father, Paul W. Ammons, and older brother, Steven Ammons.
He is survived by his twin sister, Paula Ammons, Inverness, Florida, Barbara Ammons, his beloved wife of 50 years, Spokane, Washington, sons, Allin Ammons, Jr., California, Jeff Ammons (Jennifer), Chandler, Arizona; daughters, Sandy Wilson and Linda Wilson, Spokane, Washington, and Mike Wilson (Mariechi), the Philippines.
He was blessed with six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson, seven nephews and one niece.
After graduating from West Valley High School in 1958 and serving in the Navy, Allin apprenticed at Ben Cooper's Cabinet shop in Spokane. He then got a job at Sacred Heart Hospital, in Spokane, Washington, where he retired after 27 years.
After he retired, he and Barbara traveled with their 5th wheel across the United States. After that trip they become “snowbirds” for many years to Hemet, California. He was an avid golfer, church-goer, and volunteer at the Blood Bank there.
Allin loved life, whether it was riding roller coasters, playing bridge, playing computer solitaire, watching sports on TV, collecting coins, gardening, fishing, building something, playing board games with family and friends or BBQing at a family gathering. He also loved volunteering at the Blood Bank in Spokane where he was valued by all who worked with him.
He will long be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather (great- and great-great), and as a man with a kind heart, a helping hand, a wonderful sense of humor and a zest for life.
