Allick, Emil
Emil Allick, 87, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at his home with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with the Chaplain Phil Saunders officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Emil was born Nov. 2, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Samuel and Alma Allick. He married Christiane Rouquet on Nov. 12, 1945. in Paris, France. Emil and Tina owned and operated Emil Allick Self Serve Grocery from 1945 until 1964. In 1964, they opened Emil's Deli operating the deli until 1976. The deli is now operated by their son, David. Emil was a member of the Mizpah Lodge #639, El Kahir Shrine, the American Legion and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Emil is survived by children, David (Vinca) Allick of Cedar Rapids, Dianne (Michael) O'Brien of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Deb Allick of Cedar Rapids; and five grandchildren Nathan, Christopher and Adam Allick of Cedar Rapids, and Shannon (Erin) and Megan O'Brien of St. Petersburg, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Christiane Allick; an infant granddaughter, Molly Allick-O'Brien; and siblings, Mary Murray, Naffee Olive and Ollie Allick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.

Deb's Ice Cream and Deli and Emil's Downtown location only will be closed Wednesday in observance.
