ALLENE ROSE HARMON
Marion
Allene Rose Harmon, 84, of Marion, formerly of Nipomo, Calif., passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 9, 2017, where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law. A private family service will be held at a later date. Murdoch Funeral Homes & Cremation Service in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.
Allene was born Dec. 22, 1932, the daughter of John and Rose (Prochazka) Kubice, in Chicago, Ill. She was married to Richard Cech. They had two children together. They later divorced. Allene was remarried for 30 years to Jack Harmon.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Laura (Victor) Daman; granddaughters, Emily Daman of Santa Monica, Calif., and Carolyn Daman (Marc Gladson) of Cedar Rapids; grandsons, Todd (Jamie) Daman of Marion and Troy Daman of Fort Madison; sons, Douglas (James) Scechulte and Rory Erickson of Portland, Ore.; son, Laurence Harmon of Glendale, Calif.; and five great-grandchildren, Madilyn, Raelyn, Kaytlin, Noah and Sophia.
Allene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Harmon; sister, Georgeanne Verner; and grandson, Timothy Daman.
Allene will be remembered as someone who embraced life fully and with great joy. Upon retirement, she and Jack spent many happy years together in their beloved California and especially enjoyed their home on the central coast. In Nipomo, Allene made many friends through her card clubs and performing with the dance group, the Senior Strutters. She traveled extensively with her sister in her later years. Her greatest happiness, however, was the time spent with her family and her kitties. Her granddaughters will always have special memories of their trips to spend summer vacations on the beach with their sweet Babi. Allene loved animals, especially cats.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local animal shelter in memory of Allene.
