Allen, Samuel N.
Samuel N. Allen, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at MeadowView Memory Care Village following a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Craig Peters. Burial: 2 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd, Iowa. Friends may visit at the church on Monday after 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Survivors include his wife, Mae; and his sister-in-law, Jane Allen of Fort Dodge.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister; his brother, Hoyt H. Allen; and stepson, Charles Richard.
Samuel N. Allen was born May 18, 1919, in Perry, the son of Newton and Grace Hill Allen. He received his B.S. degree from Central College in Pella and worked as a research chemist. Sam opened the chemistry lab at Archer Daniels Midland Co. in Cedar Rapids. He married H. Mae Witter on Jan. 16, 1954, in Cedar Rapids.
Samuel was a charter member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and a member of Independent Odd Fellows and the Maine Lodge.
