Allen R. Kluesner, 65, of Florissant, Mo., formerly of Farley, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Charles, Mo.
Friends and relatives of Allen may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, at
the Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, Iowa, where a wake service will be held at
1:30 p.m. and the Farley American Legion Post 656 services will be held at 7 p.m. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, at the funeral home.
Services for Allen will be held at
10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, Iowa, with the Rev. Michael Schueller presiding. Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery with full military honors afforded by the Farley American Legion Post 656.
Allen was born Dec. 19, 1952, in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Joseph C. and Verena R. (Wulfekuhle) Kluesner. He is a 1971 graduate of St. Joseph's High School in Farley, Iowa. He is a veteran, having enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1971 and serving until October 1975. He graduated from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, and he went on to teach at Preston High School and Western Dubuque High School. He received his engineering degree from the University of Iowa. In 1988 he moved to St. Louis to work at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing, and retired June 1, 2017.
Allen was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved golfing, fishing, crossword puzzles, reading, watching movies and listening to all kinds of music.
He was a member of Farley American Legion Post 656 in Farley, Iowa.
He is survived by 12 siblings, Daniel Kluesner of Farley, Iowa, Dianne (Bruce) Batteram of Hazel Green, Wis., Robert (Karla) Kluesner of Farley, Iowa, Vernon (Jackie) Kluesner of Dubuque, Iowa, Edwin (Mary) Kluesner of Farley, Iowa, Therese (Jerry) Renz of Earlville, Iowa, Barb Kluesner of Marion, Iowa, Craig Kluesner of Farley, Iowa, Ernie (Karen) Kluesner of Marion, Iowa, Cyril (Amy) Kluesner of Dubuque, Iowa, Rosie (Daryl) Nurre of Petersburg, Iowa, and Lois (Rich) Wubben of Galena, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph C. and Verena (Wulfekuhle) Kluesner; and one nephew, Ryan Wubben, on March 4, 1989.
