ALLEN "AL" BRUCE CARTER
Poplar Grove, Ill.
Allen "Al" Bruce Carter,
39, of Poplar Grove, Ill., formerly of Marion, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 5, 2019, while on a family road trip, traveling through Minnesota and Wisconsin. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service
in Marion. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 11, at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Linda Livingston. Cremation will follow services with a private committal service at a later date.
Al was born March 15, 1980, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Lynn and Penny (Weaver) Carter. He graduated from Marion High School in 1998 and received geoscience and environmental science bachelor's degrees from the University of Iowa. On Sept. 13, 2004, in Iowa City, Al was united in marriage to Tara Burda. He was employed at United States Customs and Border Protection as an agriculture specialist. Al most recently earned his permaculture design certificate and had started his own business. He loved his garden and spending time with the love of his life, Tara, and the apples of his eyes, his children. "The Big Lebowski" was Al's favorite movie and because of that movie, he savored White Russians. Al would love it if everyone had a White Russian in his memory. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Tara Carter; his three children, Lillian (15), Daphney (7), and Lincoln (3); mother, Penny Carter; father, Lynn Carter; brother, Andrew Carter; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Steve and Kim Burda; his beloved and faithful dog, Harry Potter; and a host of extended family members including two brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Al was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dale and Bev Weaver; and paternal grandparents, Mel and Bonnie Carter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to be designated later.
