Allan J. Glasford, 85, a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center, died there Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, exactly five years to the date that Phyllis, his beloved wife of 60 years, passed away. Graveside services will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Survivors include a son, Jay (Jinnine) of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Teri Glasford (Michael) Doraby of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; a sister, Susan (Michael) Ricks of Bath, N.Y.; four grandchildren, James (Kathleen) Macarevey, Erin (Kevin) Enser, Scot (Amy) Glasford and Whitney (Brandon) Dalecky; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother, Donald
Allan was born Dec. 16, 1929, in Edwards, N.Y., the son of John and Irene Cousins Glasford. He married Phyllis H. Witters on Dec. 19, 1949, in Gouverneur, N.Y. Phyllis passed away in 2010.
Allan worked in human resources at Raytheon and Amana Refrigeration for over 30 years, retiring in 1992.
He was an avid golfer, a member of the Retirees Monday Golf League and proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War.
Allan enjoyed bowling and especially the time spent with his many friends and beloved family. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
